The bronze sculpture was created in honor of cancer survivors by Mexican sculptor, Victor Salmones (1937-1989). The sculpture was given to the City of Houston by Richard Bloch, a cancer survivor, and his wife, Annette, and was dedicated on May 16, 1993.
