Create a Legacy with Hermann Park Conservancy

With foresight and careful planning, you can ensure that your legacy will include supporting Hermann Park for years to come. There are several types of legacy gifts, including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and non-probate assets that you may wish to consider as you think about your estate plans. One of the easiest and most common ways to make a gift to the Conservancy is through a bequest in your will. Bequests work particularly well for supporters who are unable to make an immediate gift, but would like to commit a gift to Hermann Park for future use.

George Hermann Society

The George Hermann Society recognizes donors who have provided for the future of Hermann Park through bequests to Hermann Park Conservancy.  The George Hermann Society commemorates the memory of George Hermann, the visionary Houstonian who had the foresight to bequest the land that is now Hermann Park to the City of Houston in 1914.  Thanks to George Hermann, Hermann Park has been a Houston tradition for over 100 years.

In thanks for their support, George Hermann Society members will be recognized in Conservancy publications, and included in special communication and events throughout the year.

Planned Giving Tools

To help you get started on your plans and legacy, the Conservancy has partnered with FreeWill, a free online tool that guides you through the process of creating a legally valid will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own, or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.

Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life-insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? If so, these are called non-probate assets and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online tool to make your plans and designate the Conservancy as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.

Endowments

The Conservancy currently has several endowments, all of which offer you the opportunity to provide for Hermann Park’s preservation today and for generations to come. Investing in these endowments is a thoughtful way to ensure your legacy lives on in Hermann Park.

  • General Endowment Fund
  • Garden Conservancy Fund
  • Habitat Conservancy Fund
  • Tree Conservancy Fund
  • Fund for Public Art
  • Named Endowments

The Conservancy and the board of directors cannot advise on estate planning. For guidance, please contact your financial or legal advisor.
