The Dick Dowling statue watches over the entrance to Hermann Park on Cambridge Street. The statue was created in 1905 by German Immigrant, Frank A. Teich, as a memorial to Richard William Dowling, a local Civil War soldier. The statue is carved in white Carrara marble and stands on a pedestal marked with the names of Confederate soldiers who participated in the Battle of Sabine Pass.
