Join us for “Pitch in at Hermann Park\,” a hands-on volunteer series where community members of all ages come together to help care for Houston’s most cherished green spaces. \nWe’re proud to work alongside FWC26Houston and Harris County–Houston Sports Authority in the Impact Houston 26 efforts to elevate the local environmental action on a global stage and build a lasting\, positive legacy for our city. \nYou’ll work alongside Conservancy staff on simple but meaningful projects like mulching\, planting\, and litter cleanup — the kind of small efforts that make a big impact for visitors\, wildlife\, and the health of the Park. \nOur first volunteer session is Friday\, Feb. 27\, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Heart of the Park (6104 Hermann Park Drive\, Houston Texas 77030). Volunteers will meet at the Pedal Boat Kiosk. Enter through Lot G (near the Zoo) or Lot E and park in Lot F.  Walk up the concrete sidewalk to the Pedal Boat Kiosk\, and we will be watching for your group. \nNo experience is needed — just comfortable clothes\, closed-toe shoes\, and a willingness to help. We’ll provide the tools\, guidance\, and a great way to spend your morning outdoors while meeting new people and giving back to the community. \nWhether you come with friends\, family\, coworkers\, or on your own\, your time truly matters here. Hermann Park Conservancy is excited to host the 2026 Harris County Walk Across Texas Kickoff this Saturday\, February 28\, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Wortham Pavilion in the Commons. \nWalk Across Texas\, a program by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension\, is a free\, eight-week walking challenge designed to help Texans be more active and establish the habit of regular physical activity. Each adult team may include up to eight team members\, all working together to walk the 832-mile goal. Since 1996\, more than 650\,000 Texans have participated in the program to significantly increase their physical activity level. \nBring your friends\, family\, or coworkers and start your team for this fun\, healthy community challenge. To kick things off\, this event will have: \n\nLine dancing\nStretching with Black Swan Yoga\nFamily-friendly scavenger hunt\n\nCome move\, laugh\, and get inspired to log your miles together.
