The Grand Basin, part of Hermann Park’s early plans, was created in 1925. Decades later, a gift from Kathrine and John P. McGovern made it possible for major improvements to be made to the six-acre lake. In 1999, the old lake was drained and enlarged. The new eight-acre McGovern Lake opened to the public on April 21, 2001.
HPC members are a vital part of keeping Hermann Park looking good. Membership gifts support the Conservancy's stewardship efforts, like volunteer programs and maintenance initiatives. Members get great benefits too, like free train tickets, invitations to member exclusive events, and more!
Ho-ho-hop on the holiday train on the Hermann Park Railroad! Take a festive ride with jolly music and twinkling lights guiding you through Hermann Park.
