2010 Hats in the Park in Review

Houston’s famous fashionistas and avid green advocates came out in full force on Tuesday to celebrate Hermann Park at the third annual Hats in the Park luncheon benefitting Hermann Park Conservancy. Chaired by Jana Arnoldy and Linda Hunsaker, the packed luncheon brought together roughly 300 guests for a champagne reception at the historic clubhouse at Hermann Park followed by the luncheon on the lawn.

From straw to silk and floppy to gravity-defying, the hats were a sight to behold. With many ladies sporting floral themed ensembles, the colorful outfits were appropriate for a benefit event that helps keep Hermann Park blooming. Mayor Annise Parker presented Ann Hamilton with the 2010 Bob and Elyse Lanier Award for her part in facilitating Hermann Park’s rejuvenation.

Tiffany & Co. sweetened the afternoon by offering a raffle package worth $5,000 to guests in exchange for their support of the Conservancy’s renovation and beautification of the historic main entrance to the Park from the Mecom Fountain to the Sam Houston Monument. The stunning diamond and aquamarine drop earrings certainly added some sparkle to the dazzling deal, which included lots of luxury accessories all ready to take home in a Tiffany handbag.  All said and done, the fabulous event grossed over $210,000 for Hermann Park. Something to celebrate indeed!
